Cruising is Growing in Popularity, Have You Booked Yours?

Sunday 22 October 2006 @ 6:04 am

After retiring, my folks took a Caribbean cruise and another through the Panama Canal and up the Central American coast to California and yet another to Alaska.  They enjoyed them all.

Cruising is growing in popularity like never before. This came home to me when I spent a few days in Ft. Lauderdale last year and watched Cruise ships from the Carnival and Princess lines come in and sail out of the port daily.  They were hugh beautiful ships that definitely drew your interest just seeing them.

While there in Ft. Lauderdale, we met and talked with a number of people who had taken, not just one, but several cruises and talked of their experiences.  By and large they were favorable and all recommended having a cruise experience.  The one caution that some suggested was to book your cuise on a cruise line that has a crew that can speak a language that you can also speak.  It really helps when you need assistance or need to ask questions.

Upon returning from Ft. Lauderdale, I found several coworkers that also loved taking cruises.  One women and her daughter take a cruise every year together.

Cruising is not only growing in popularity but it is also shifting to a younger age set than used to be traditional, with some cruise lines specifically targeting their advertising towards the younger crowd.

When many people think of cruising, they think of a vacation with an older clientele, being stuck on a ship for a week with no place to go or a vacation filled with sea sickness.  That might have been true of the cruises in the distant past, but you’ll no longer find any of that on today’s Cruise Ships.  Cruise vacations has been growing in popularity for more than a decade.

Here are a few cruise myths debunked.  First of all, you are not stuck on a boat for a week.  Most of the cruise ships today are like floating resort hotels.  They offer fine dining, swimming pools, casino gaming, a host of recreational activities and plenty of shows and attractions to keep you busy all week.  Most cruise ships stop a few times during the week to exotic islands and ports.  Many travelers go to the sunny, warm Caribbean and spend the day on white sand beaches.  Many travelers cruise to Hawaii or Bermuda.  Although in the past the clientele has been older, today’s ships are geared toward families and young adults.  There is even daycare available to care for children while their mother relaxes in a spa.

Many cruise ships will fly in top quality entertainment for the evenings between ports to ensure that passengers are never bored.

Cruising has come along way.  The next time you are looking for a vacation idea, do a little research or check out some cruise sites and you’ll probably say it’s time to experience cruising.

Take A Caribbean Cruise For An Exotic Vacation

Wednesday 11 October 2006 @ 11:48 am

If you are thinking about taking a well deserved vacation, you might want to consider a cruise to the Caribbean.  If you are looking for an exotic vacation with a warm climate and beautiful beaches, you can not go wrong with the amazing islands of the Caribbean and what better way to see them, then a cruise.

Many vacationers agree that seeing the Caribbean islands via a cruise is the best way to visit the Caribbean.  The Caribbean is made up of small islands relatively close together; on a standard seven day cruise you can likely see 3 or 4 top island destinations.  Not only do you get to soak the sun on the gorgeous beaches but you will be traveling in style on an enormous cruise ship, which is more like a floating hotel.

Many cruise ships are like five star hotels, with great cuisine, Broadway style shows, rooms with private terraces, and excellent service.

Many people love the convenience of seeing the islands by boat instead of flying on small, scary airplanes that are required for island hopping.  The best part of Caribbean cruises is that they are extremely affordable.  It is extremely easy to find a seven day cruise to the Caribbean for less than $600 a person and that includes room and all the food you can eat.

So if you are looking for a great vacation idea, check out the Caribbean on a cruise, you’ll be glad you did.
